East Timor offers a sweet, full-bodied coffee with a mild acidity and wonderful cinnamon like overtones. East Timor is especially enjoyable as an evening coffee.

Making a Difference

The East Timor co-op is made up of 16 primary cooperatives and 494 small-scale farmer groups. Member farmers grow all of their coffee under shade trees, and 100 percent of their coffee is produced organically.
With additional revenue generated from sales to the Fair Trade market, the co-op has implemented the following programs and services:

• A healthcare program that includes nine stationary health clinics and 24 mobile health clinics. Together these clinics see an average of 18,000 patients per month. Services are provided free of charge for all co-op members.
• A small enterprise program that provides training in bookkeeping, management, English language, and computer skills.
• A purchasing co-op that benefits the local community by providing goods at reasonable prices to small retail outlets in rural areas.
