Many people new to the whole bean fresh roasted coffee ask me
what I grind my beans with. There is a difference between what I would use in a
coffee shop and what I use at home.
In a coffee shop I would use a professional burr grinder because
they produce a very consistent grind. However I have not been happy with any of
the home versions of the burr grinder. Many use plastic burrs or other parts and
will eventually break down, even some of the expensive ones. If you want to go
this route I suggest doing some research about what you are buying. I also value
my counter space and I don't use a bladed coffee grinder either.
I use a Vitamix to grind all of my coffee at home. It will grind
roughly 4 cups at a time (more if I use the tamper) and uses no extra counter
space, since it is also my blender. I use the Vitamix almost everyday. I use it
to grind coffee, make soup, salsa, fresh flour, powdered sugar, bread/pastry
dough, peanut/almond/other nut butters, vegetable juice and broth, and my
favorite fresh fruit smoothies. It does much more than what I personally use it
for, but my uses are more a representation of my lifestyle than of the machine.
The containers are very easy to clean... just add soap and run the machine. I
purchased a reconditioned Vitamix 4 1/2 years ago and just last year they
honored their warrantee and replaced a cracked container with no questions asked.
This is when I decided that they were an ethical company and that I would
promote them on our site.
I know my diet has greatly improved since I have purchased my
Vitamix. I was concerned about the price when I purchased it but now I believe
it has been one of the best purchases I have made... in the years before the Vitamix, I
owned 3 different blenders and all broke down. It has paid for itself.
A whole food diet is the key to a long and healthy life according to the USDA. New recommendations total 12 servings of fruits, vegetables and whole grains every day. Those guidelines are easily met with terrific-tasting, nutrient-rich whole food meals made in the Vita-Mix Super 5000..
